Hailing just 22 miles SE of Washington, D.C. from the city of Waldorf, MD, emerges an emcee named SIMP who is poised to carry on the old-school, funk and soul-filled hip-hop torch dropped by his counterparts. Recently established as co-owner of Atlanta record label, Beat Studies Productions, he now has the perfect avenue to channel his creative vision.
This alumni of Hampton University cites his upbringing in an area best known in hip-hop for its energetic Go-Go percussion, for the influence that led to his pursuit of making music. I began spinning records for local parties when I was 14 years old, he said. So I had to listen to everything and I developed a broad taste in music. His favorite emcees include Nas and Lupe Fiasco, but the influence of the rap pioneers that starred in the soundtrack of his youth shine through in his recordings and live performances.
While his names derives from the word simple (meaning easy to solve or understand, not complicated), SIMP the emcee, is anything but. A lot of people called me simple when I was growing up so I rolled with it, states the rapper. I picked it because life can be simple yet complicated in its simplicity. Some songs lyrically illustrate that concept as he gracefully and rhythmically tells his stories of love, loss, racism and faith. Other songs of his , showcase his wit, and ring with such exuberant energy that they will SIMPly raise the spirit and arouse the body.

SIMP grew up listening to Sade's music and decided to do a tribute to her melodies. This in an eclectic mix of Hip Hop with one of the most beautiful vocalist of our time.
"It's That SIMPle" is the debut album for Atlanta based Hip Hop/ Rap artist SIMP. SIMP gracefully and rhythmically tells his stories of love, loss, racism and faith. This album rings with exuberant energy that will SIMPly raise the spirit and arouse the body.
The Challenger, is just a taste of SIMPs ability. By using some of the hottest tracks of 2009, SIMP declares, Before you can become the champion, you must first be the challenger.
"Bring Back Real Music Vol.1" is SIMP's 1st Mixtape release. With it he declares that music is in a state of emergency, but he is just the one to "Bring it back."

What is Hip Hop 101?
Hip Hop 101 is an after school program geared toward high school students interested in making a career in the music world. Students involved in the program learn how to create and take ownership of their own businesses; all the while learning how to produce, market and distribute their own content effectively and efficiently.
The premise of the class is centered on the idea of the 3 Cs, which stands for Community, Cohesion and Content. This concept is evidenced in many ways in the hip hop genre, and the Hip Hop 101 course is designed to explore and exploit these points to achieve maximum success. Participants will learn to apply these concepts to their own creations throughout the course, all while doing something they love.
The Community, Cohesion and Content concept stems from the idea that all hip hop is inherently local, and successful hip hop artists effectively use community outreach to connect with their audience. As is the case in many facets of life, successful people often have a network of friends and associates to help propel them to the top; Hip Hop is no different. Students learn the importance of utilizing teamwork to achieve life goals by developing cohesive teams of various disciplines. Students are also encouraged to create content that is both clean and creative.
